It has long been known that Sea Turtles are on the brink of extinction. Overfishing, temperature changes, and loss of habitat have decimated their populations. There are some people who are trying to help the turtles survive. Scientists have found that one problem the turtles are having is temperature change. The warming of the earth has caused a major dilemma.

It seems that since the turtles lay their eggs in the sand, they depend on the temperature of the sand to incubate their eggs. The problem is that when their eggs are too warm, they produce all females. This has made it difficult for the females to find mates. Concerned citizens are coming to the rescue though by grabbing up the eggs and incubating them. This way, they can be an equal number of males and females hatched. I am sure the lady turtles will be happy about that!

Rotten in Bridgewater

I was reading an interesting story today about the town of Bridgewater, South Dakota. It seems that a plant that held 44 tons of Bison meat was left unattended over the winter and into the spring. Being as that the freezer’s electricity was cut, the meat began to spoil. The citizens of the town were left with a terrible smell.

The whole town was offended by the smell and was forced to clean up the meat that had now spoiled terribly. The owner of the warehouse could not be reached for comment, but has been given a bill for cleaning up the mess. I think they should have sent him some of the meat!!
