I have been looking forward to viewing the 2010 Winter Olympics that are scheduled to begin this Friday. Viewers can see the games on NBC starting at 7:30 February 12. I always enjoy the opening ceremonies and will root for the American ski team. I just hope the games will go on.

It seems that a warm weather spell has made life difficult for Olympic planners. They have been forced to bring in snow for the planned events. They are hoping for a positive turn in the weather to help them out. Let’s all pray that snow will arrive and save the day!

Everyone knows how much I enjoy the game of golf. It’s always been one of my passions. That’s why I like to follow the latest news about the pros that play the game best. One top golfer is Phil Mickelson who may be headed for the number one spot soon. However, he has managed to draw some unwanted attention to himself.

The new rules this year ban the use clubs that had grooves cut in them that help the ball spin. This helps golfers get of the rough more easily. However, due to a loophole in the rules, some golfers (including Phil) are using these types of clubs that date from before 1990. Clubs made before this date are exempt. That has other golfers crying foul and some expressed their disappointment that Phil has decided to go that route. In Phil’s defense, the clubs are allowable under the rules of golf and that’s the bottom line!

Yahoo Games has a link with their take on what 7 video games “changed the world.”

Their countdown includes:

  1. Pong
  2. Pacman
  3. Doom
  4. Dance Dance Revolution
  5. World of Warcraft
  6. Guitar Hero
  7. Wii Sports

Not sure that I agree with Dance Dance, but if you want to read their reasons for these picks you can read the click show on their site link.

The online order that I placed just two days ago for my PlayStation 3 has arrived on my doorstep this afternoon. I wasn’t expecting to see this SuperMan game for several more days. Will wonders ever cease, I could get used to this and have been doing more and more of my purchasing via the Internet and have been pleased with every transaction so far.

Christmas was pretty easy to handle, gift cards are a wonderful idea and I took advantage of the easy way out this year.

I do believe that if that had had the Electronic version of Monopoly, when I was growing up, as they do now, that I would have enjoyed playing this traditional board game of finance and real estate monopolies. I always hated the constant counting and re counting of all of the monies involved in each transaction at almost every roll of the dice, and I hated being named as the “Banker” that was the pits and it made the playing of that game stressful instead of fun.

This new electronic version might be a fun thing to purchase after Christmas when all of the prices have been reduced for clearance, board games are still fun to play from time to time, and I always enjoy a good card game or Backgammon, Yahtzee is the best of all.
