Today marks the 40th anniversary of earth day. The day was meant to raise awareness around the world of the importance of our earth and our impact on it. Thousands of people participated in various events that reflected the concern many of us have that we need to do a better job of preserving our wild places and the animals that live there.

I hope everyone will join me in raising their voices to those who will listen and demand that we begin to take this problem seriously. I want my children to have a better world than I and its going to take some changes to do it. I believe that everyone should take some time and spread the word about this important subject!

This is one of my favorite holidays. I love the idea of being able to play tricks on my friends and have a perfect excuse to do so. It’s hard to get in trouble for this as well unless you go way overboard. I hope to have a great day seeing all the tricks being played. Since I work in a large office, I am sure that there will be many jokes. I just hope I don’t fall for one of them!!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I certainly have enjoyed everyone comments on my blog and thank you all for dropping by. I must say that I have also enjoyed reading your blogs and it’s made it an interesting year. I am glad to have so many people who have the same interests as I and it’s been all good so far. I hope the next year goes as well!!

The list of people that I need to buy gifts for seems almost endless. I was able to do some shopping over the Thanksgiving weekend and was happy to get some of it done, but there always seems to be a few people that are very hard to shop for. My mom is always a problem. She lives in Florida and has been retired for years. She has just about everything you can imagine in her condo and doesn’t really even have room for anything more.

I think we got her some gift cards last year and that was good, but the gift card thing must be getting old for her. Since we only visit a couple of times a year, it’s hard to know what she may need. When we ask her, she has very few ideas herself. I think I’ll try the bookstore and maybe I can find something there.

Another Thanksgiving Day has come and we are celebrating in full force. We are the proud owners of a 23 pound bird that is currently in the oven. I love the way the smell permeates the house and makes everyone ready to eat. The best part is that the whole family is here to enjoy the day with us. I like to spend time talking with everyone and catching up on the latest news.

I hope everyone else out there has a great day as well. I also hope that those people who are less fortunate than us will enjoy some of the food that we donated to a local food bank. I certainly hope that no one will go hungry today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
