Another Thanksgiving Day has come and we are celebrating in full force. We are the proud owners of a 23 pound bird that is currently in the oven. I love the way the smell permeates the house and makes everyone ready to eat. The best part is that the whole family is here to enjoy the day with us. I like to spend time talking with everyone and catching up on the latest news.

I hope everyone else out there has a great day as well. I also hope that those people who are less fortunate than us will enjoy some of the food that we donated to a local food bank. I certainly hope that no one will go hungry today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Raspberry sherbet

Since the weather has been so hot lately, it’s nice to have a cool treat. Each night, I like to have a little ice cream at night awhile after dinner. Lately, I have had a craving for raspberry sherbet. I know it’s not everybody’s favorite flavor, but it’s working well for me. I had been eating chocolate for a long time, but I was getting tired of it. It’s been a nice switch!

The grocery store had a huge box of fresh pineapples on sale for $2 a piece. That is a bargain price and I love fresh pineapple. So I bought two and they will be ripe by the weekend. Sounds like pina coladas and grilled pineapple will be on the weekend cookout menu.

I hope the Easter Bunny finds your house tonight and leaves you lots of goodies. Tomorrow is Easter and I’m looking forward to marshmallow peeps and lots of jelly bellies.

Fast lunch does not have to mean fast food. I decided to stop by the local grocery store today instead of going to a drive through for a burger. The grocery has a deli that makes sandwiches to order, and they have a seafood counter that makes fresh sushi every day. I checked out the sushi and was able to get a box with 12 California Rolls for under $6. That’s the same price as a burger and fries, but it tastes better and it better for your health. So that’s my fast lunch today.
