Movies

I went to see a movie last night with my gal. Boy have they gotten expensive. We went to see Taken 2 with Liam Neeson. I really liked the first one and the second did not disappoint me either. I certainly enjoyed the action, as well as the story line. My girl, liked it but had really wanted to see something mushy. Blech! I was just not in the mood for a sappy romance. I did take her to dinner before hand, so she really wasn’t that upset over the movie.

We had a good time and then went home, as we both had to work today. Staying out late was not an option. I like that my girl is easy to get along with. A lot of women, would have pitched a fit. Oh well, time for me to get out of here. I have a lot to do still.

Cooler weather

I don’t know about you but I am loving this cooler weather.  Fall is on it’s way and it’s not hurting my feelings at all.  I can handle cold better than I can handle heat.  I have been checking out those portable fire pit things for the deck.  You would think that since I have been looking at them, I would remember what they call them besides ‘fire pit things’.

Anyway, there’s no fireplace in the house so a nice fire on the deck would be great for just relaxing after a hard days work or even a nice quiet get together with some friends.  That is if they will all behave and try to get along!  Smores anyone?

Great movie

I was talking to my mother and she asked me if I had seen the movie Secretariat yet.  I had never even heard of it so I asked what it was about.  She said it was a movie about the only horse she ever bet on in her life and it won.  Well that got my interest up.

I have to admit, it was a great movie.  Man that was one amazing animal.  It was great to see how this everyday housewife stuck to her guns and would not let anything stop her from seeing this horse run, and man could he ever run.  If you haven’t seen this movie, I recommend it, especially if you have to watch something your lady friend would like too.

Lazy Sunday

One thing I love about Sundays is just being lazy.  It’s supposed to be a day of rest and that’s what I intend to do, rest.  Yesterday was a busy day with my self made ‘honey do’ list.  I love working with wood and really needed a few shelves around the house so I went to work.

Since I didn’t really have many tools, I do have a good imagination.  There were six cinder blocks out back.  I took a wire brush and cleaned them real good.  Then I took three boards that were the same width as the cinder blocks and cut them in half.  That gave me enough shelving boards for another project later.

Anyway, I painted the shelves a gloss black.  Took two cinder blocks and placed them on the floor.  Put a shelf on top followed by two more cinder blocks and so on until I topped the last pair with one last shelf.  Not too shabby or maybe it is.

One thing that my loved one and I always seem to disagree on is what movie to watch at night. She goes in for dramas and I really don’t like them. I guess I am more of an action kind of guy. Anyway, we seem to be set in our ways and we’ll just have to find a way to solve our problem.

It would be nice if we could agree sometimes on what to watch. I am sure that there are movies out there that would please us both. We just have to find them. I guess we’ll keep looking until we do.
