On the cold planet of Mars is a lonely piece of equipment. The rover named Spirit is stuck in a sand trap and the Martian winter is coming. NASA has decided to initiate a plan that allows the rover to rest for much of the time. Spirit now wakes up once a week and sends a data downlink back to earth before resuming its shutdown.

Originally sent on a 90 day mission in 2004, Spirit and her sister Opportunity still endure the Martian cold. The rover’s mission of exploring the planet and sending back data has succeeded beyond all expectations. NASA hopes to free Spirit from its trap after the winter is over.

Well, it looks like I need to do another update. This WordPress platform is really good and I know they have a lot of volunteers working hard to make it even better. But wow, it seems like everytime I log in to my dashboard I have a message that I need to update my WordPress application. This is starting to be a real drag. Between WordPress and Firefox sending out constant updates I feel like a slave to my computer.

All my friends are busy making a Facebook page and making “friends.” I wonder what the buzz is all about? I thought having a blog would be the best way to keep my peeps informed. Now I might have to spend even more time on the internet with a Facebook page.

Talked with a girl who works for a big call center nearby. The call center is for a big company that sells extended warranties on cell phones for several of the major brands of cell phones. She says they cover every type of phone except for the T-mobile phones. I don’t know why T-Mobile is excluded or what makes them undesirable.

She says that every time her phone rings it is a cell phone customer who wants to file a claim for a damaged or broken cell phone. It is her job to find out what happened and decide if the breakage is covered under their warranty or not. She says that more than half of the claims get rejected because of water damage, which is not covered.

I was surprised to find out the the most common reason a cell phone quits working is because it gets dropped into a toilet. That is a disgusting thought to me, but evidently a whole lot of people think it is important to have their cell phone with them while they use the toilet.

The new Internet Explorer release does not impress me any more. I used to really look forward to the new versions – they always seemed to have an assortment of new features that made things faster, easier, more logical, etc. But ever since I switched to Firefox, I could care less what other browsers promise. I’m just not interested in IE or even Google’s new Chrome anymore.
